The Garden of Oz is a unique and artistic public space tucked away in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles, California. Often described as magical and hidden, this park offers an unusual blend of eclectic art installations, meditation spaces, and panoramic city views. While not a traditional dog park, it is widely regarded as a dog-friendly spot where locals bring their dogs to relax and socialize, giving it a reputation as one of the more creative “dog parks in Los Angeles.”

Dog owners should note that the park is not fenced, so dogs that are not trustworthy off-leash may not be suited for this area. The terrain is hilly in places, with stairs and shrines, making it an adventurous outing best for agile dogs and owners. Access is limited—generally open only for a short window weekly—and visitors mention that the spot is relatively quiet, with few crowds. While some reviews highlight occasional safety concerns or the presence of encampments, others claim the park is kept clean and offers restful benches, playground equipment, and even opportunities for picnics. The artistic ambiance and sweeping cityscape make it a memorable experience for dog lovers and creative spirits alike.

Been There Done That

This place is magical. Collaboration of work done by several different people. It’s very hidden and not easy to get to but that makes it more fun. Door seems closed but it’s unlocked every Thursdays for 2 hours. No photos are allowed but you won’t have time to take photo anyway. It is placed on a hill so many arts are made like steps. Different shrines and meditation areas where you have a great view of the street looking down.
Dog friendly but many areas you’ll have to aid or carry so big furs are not ideal.
Not so many visitors come by. I spent nearly 40mins by myself.
Bring a tchotchke or two to donate

Really not worth checking out – there is a sign do not take pictures, we respected that. It’s a bunch of found stuff on the street put together – I’d skip this
