Cleland Park Dog Park in Los Angeles, California

Located in the friendly neighborhood of Los Angeles, Cleland Park is perfect for dog owners seeking a welcoming, pet-friendly space. The park is known for its green field area next to a playground, where neighbors and their dogs gather, making it a popular spot for socializing both for pets and their owners. While the primary park area is designed for young children, the green field has become a local gathering place for dog lovers, even though leash requirements are in place.

Cleland Park stands out due to its comfortable and community-oriented atmosphere. The shaded playground offers relief from the sun during the mornings, and the separation between the play area and the adjoining open green space provides a good balance between activities for children and a space for pets. There is no designated fenced dog area, so it’s important for visitors to respect leash policies. This spot is truly a neighborhood gem for quick playtimes and casual meetups for both kids and pets in Northeast LA.

It’s a nice small park, but I don’t understand the maintenance of the park, they clear out toys that are left behind, but leave the sand and leaves everywhere?

Took out our new rescue dog to our local dog park and she had a blast. Great meeting the local neighbors and their friendly dogs.

The park is a lot of fun for young kids. Usually take my 15 month old to play and enjoy the swings. Best part of the part is that all of the toys and swings are in the shade during the mornings.

In the past people would bring toys for the sand box and leave them for others to enjoy; however, as of Nov 2023 most of those toys are gone. I’m not sure if the city came by and cleaned the park or if people just took them.

Overall this is a great place for the younger kids. For children over 5, the park on York and Ave 50 is a lot better.

it’s a good new park for kids. during the pandemic i can never tell when it is open. let’s talk about the green space next to it – is it a dog park or is it a soccer field? sometimes i see dogs running around and pooping and other times i see ppl playing sports. i just keep thinking oh, poor ppl who are kicking the ball around on a dog’s bathroom! but, maybe i’m the only germaphobe who thinks this way. before people get mad, i love dogs. and i also love people. work it out! the playground is great and i like that there is separation with the dog park/soccer field whatever that is.
