🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Located in the heart of Court Square, Murray Playground Dog Run offers a dedicated space for dogs and their owners seeking a friendly, off-leash experience in Long Island City, NY. This fenced dog park recently underwent upgrades, transforming what was once a rocky, rough area into a park with fresh mulch and improved (though not perfect) ground conditions. The local dog community speaks highly of the vibrant social scene here, often preferring it over nearby alternatives—even those living closer to other dog runs!
Despite recent improvements, some reviews note that the ground can quickly return to exposed dirt and rocks after heavy use, so be prepared for a dusty pup after playtime. While the park doesn’t have special areas for small or large dogs, it’s a popular spot for locals to let their pets stretch their legs off-leash, socialize, and enjoy the energetic Long Island City dog scene. The park continues to evolve thanks to neighborhood demand for a cleaner, safer space for pets.
Very nice dog community, but be prepared to take home a very dirty dog 😂
Update: it’s amazing how quickly all the mulch got destroyed at this park. It’s now dirt and exposed rocks. Not a good place to bring your dog anymore, they are likely to hurt themselves in all the rocks. They should really update this park with pavement or turf
This dog park has become great with the upgrades. We live much closer to the Vernon Blvd Park and we come here anyway. Hopefully the Vernon Blvd Park takes the same path and replaces the disgusting gravel and mud with mulch
It should be a beautiful park, but NYC Park and the city do nothing to keep the park clean and safe. As a result, dogs are regularly injured, there are rocks and metal sticking out of the ground, it’s so dirty that you come out covered in a layer of earth and dust every time you go out there
Dirt park with a lot of rocks which is not ideal for dogs especially when they want to run around. My pup’s paw pads were injured.
Finally, a transformation of this dog park! With rubble clearing and fresh mulch. Looking forward to using it more often and to finally having a defend dog run in the Court Square neighborhood.
