Located in the heart of Long Island City, LIC Dog Park stands out as one of the best dog parks in NYC for pet owners seeking a safe and engaging space for their furry friends. This dog park features two spacious, fully fenced areas with gravel terrain—one for large dogs and another for small or unsociable pups. With lots of room for your dog to run, play fetch, or just enjoy being off-leash, it’s a must-visit spot for anyone looking for a dog-friendly park near the East River.
The park is known for its clean environment, diligent group of regulars, and its practical layout—including covered shelter for shade, plenty of seating for owners, and extra waste bags available. Although it lacks running water and grassy areas, the ample space and shade make it a favorite among locals. If you’re seeking a great dog park in Long Island City, LIC Dog Park is hard to beat for size, convenience, and a welcoming, pet-friendly community.

2 areas. One for large and one for small. Both with water and plenty of spaces to run around. Seats and some shade.
If people don’t clean up after their dogs it can be dirty though.

Pretty great dog park! It has gravel as the surface, but it’s relatively high quality and mostly rounded off. Two sections, which is useful for those with smaller or unsociable dogs. Large area for dogs to run, usually extra bags, and the regulars keep it clean. Watch that you don’t lose a more athletic dog over the back wall, which is quite short. And grab yourself a slice from next door!

The GOAT of LIC dog parks! Only downsides : no running water and relentless mosquitoes.
Place is clean and owners are diligent in picking up dog waste. Large space with pebbles allows for dogs to really run freely. Great spot to play catch/fetch!

This dog park seems highly rated, so I went with my puppy. It was a nice size and had two zones for larger and smaller dogs, but what I don’t get (and neither my pup or myself liked) is that the ground is covered in small stones… No grass, no dirt. Stones. Why? It’s not good for their feet, a pita to clean droppings, overall dumb. Won’t be going back, though this seems a trend in LIC.
