10/10 recommend! Throw your boots on and check out this farm. We took a 10yr old and 18month old to see the animals today. We learned so much. The owner was a wealth of knowledge with fun information about each animal. We walked threw leggings, feeding, and holding several animals.
The women who run this farm (Latresha and Summer Starling) took advantage of the fact that I was a first time goat owner, and that I trusted them after spending quite a bit of time at their farm on multiple occasions.
They knowingly sold me a doeling that had an infection in her brain due to a botched disbudding that they performed on her, which caused horrible seizures. They down played her “off” behavior before I brought her home as normal and nothing to worry about. They happily took my NULL and sent me home with a baby that 100% would not have survived without the extraordinary amount of money and over 6 months I spent rehabilitating her and providing 24/7 care *in my home*. She nearly died more than once, and ended up needing to be on expensive anti seizure medication intended for humans (phenobarbital). My veterinarian advised me that she was unlikely to survive multiple times, and informed me that it was incredibly unethical for the breeder to have sold me this baby in the condition she was in.
That doeling’s twin brother (who I bought at the same time, for an additional NULL) developed an abcess that tested positive for CL – An incurable infectious disease that is contagious to humans, which these women obviously do not test for or cull out of their breeding stock. Words cannot describe how disgusted and disappointed I am with the women who run this farm. Shame on them. Buyer beware ⚠️
Wow this place is amazing! My daughters love animals and we came across this place while driving. We just walked over and asked to see the animals and she welcomed us in in a heartbeat. She made sure we had fun and gave us a detailed tour of all the animals. My daughters held baby goats, two day old piglets, few days old bunnies, doves, sheep. They were taught how to milk a goat, they saw horse dance. My daughters had a blast it’s unforgettable. Owner took lots of time out of her day to make sure we had a great time, and for free! This small family owned and run farm is a diamond in the rough at Long Beach. Make sure to give Paintings by Goats lots of love. They also have tons of handmade gifts and souvenirs, so make sure to show your support and buy some. We ended up buying our dog a toy and some great handmade shea butter scented soaps.
The whole family loves this place. We could have stayed much longer. We arrived just before lunch and stayed for more than an hour, but would have stayed well into the afternoon. Hosts are very knowledgeable about the animals and have several for sale. The gift shop has a variety of unique artwork and farm made products for sale. They even have a free toy box for the little ones. Of all the fun things to do in Long Beach, this was hands down a family favorite. We will absolutely be making a return visit
