Nestled along the scenic Long Beach marina, Jack Nichol Park is a tranquil, lesser-known spot ideal for dog owners seeking a quiet escape. This dog park in Long Beach, California offers wide open, grassy fields perfect for playing fetch, relaxing with your pet, or enjoying bay views. The park is somewhat secluded, making it a peaceful destination for locals and dog walkers in the Alamitos Heights area. While it’s known as the secret dog park of the neighborhood, its open space and waterfront setting make it a unique dog-friendly park for off-leash fun—especially in the late afternoons.
Jack Nichol Park is accessible with wheelchair-friendly paths and limited parking (mostly used by boaters and nearby residents). Amenities include benches overlooking the water, trash cans, doggy bag dispensers, and scenic walking paths. Although not officially fenced for dogs and with no restrooms for the public, this pet-friendly trail provides plenty of space and tranquility for dogs to roam safely. With its marina setting, shaded seating, and quiet atmosphere, it’s a favorite hangout for Long Beach locals and their canine companions.
Nice park off the grid. No restrooms, not enough trash cans, and not enough watering. Great views, and almost no one knows about it. Limited parking for the public. Great marina! Secure dock and parking, nice restrooms, laundry, and mail I think.
Nice quiet park over looking the marina! Public and private parking lot for boat owners! Wide open field great for flying R/C helicopters, drones, and air planes! Nice place to play fetch with your dog, plenty of trash cans and doggy bag dispensers.
Romantic benches near the rocks with a beautiful view of the water!
Unofficial secret dog park of Alamitos Heights for running dogs. The city frowns on off leash dog running, but this park has no houses around it, no roads around it, no heavy use by kids or bikers around it, and is surrounded by water, so the residents of Alamitos Heights come here late afternoons to run their dogs and let them play. Parking is very limited so most people walk down the hill using the bike path and nice sidewalks. This is Long Beach Marina Land, so thank the boaters that pay HUGE fees for the slips and this park. Do not tell non-local crazies with badly behaved dogs about this park, we want to keep it nice and safe.🤫🤫🤫
It’s one of my favorite places in Long Beach right on the bay. Fresh air, looking at the yacht plus more
Former landfill, now a spot tucked away allowing boat slip renters access to some services and keeping some green space in a pretty densely populated area.
You can see the difficulty the parks dept is having in growing grass in the photo. Still, it’s a lovely place to watch the sunset.
