Located in the heart of Litchfield, Maine, the Jimmy Stream Conservation Area is a beautiful spot for dog owners looking to explore pet-friendly trails. This conservation area offers well-maintained hiking paths surrounded by diverse bird habitats, wetlands, shrubby areas, and lush pine forests. With its inclusive and welcoming vibe, Jimmy Stream is both LGBTQ and family-friendly, making it an ideal destination for everyone looking to enjoy the outdoors with their pets.
Dogs are welcome on the trails, and the area is suitable for both kids and adults. Visitors will find tranquil scenery (though expect some background residential activity), making it perfect for a low-key outing. Parking is available, but limited—there are a few roadside spaces along Gustin Road or at the intersection of Gustin and Jimmy Pond Road. For the best experience, visitors should follow directions from the Kennebec Land Trust website, as GPS directions may lead to incorrect or restricted areas.
Well maintained trails + beautiful scenery. Parking is limited (i.e., 1 spot), but is available at the intersection of Gustin & Jimmy Pond Rd.
Good birding here with varied habitat; wetlands and shrubby areas along Jimmy Stream and woods on the other side of the dirt road, with areas of disturbed woods with lots of invasive and a nice stretch of beautiful old pine forest. There are two roadside parking areas along Gustin Road. Trails are surrounded by residential areas so it was never really quiet, maybe because we were there on a weekend.
Warning! Google maps had us turn off 197 onto Ferrin Lane and then Finley Lane which was a rutted and bumpy dirt road that ended at a keep out sign. Make sure you follow the directions on the Kennebe Land Trust website!
