Started here to ride a section of the ghost town Trail. Easy to find with the directions from the GPS

Parking is ample, free, and easy to find. The path is well maintained, though occasionally, like any public trail, prone to washout in places. It’s never more than a minor inconvenience. People and other riders have always seemed nice. I typically ride with my wife, and you’ll see other couples out too, but you’ll also see lots of solo bikers, runners, and dog walkers. Never seen a dog off-leash. Great spot for a short or longer ride.

I started my bike ride at the Ebensburg Ghost Town trail parking lot and rode to Nanty Glo. (August 2023 – 14.2 mile RT) The trail was washed out under the overpass near the parking lot. It was rough there, but no issues from that point on. The gravel is fine and a very easy ride on a slight downhill to Nanty Glo. Coming back I definitely noticed the uphill grade on my Salsa gravel bike. I recommend to start in Nanty Glo so you have the downhill on your return ride. There was a porta potty on the trail, but I did not notice restrooms at either parking lots. Be aware! I got off my bike to take a photo of the Blacklick River at the bridge and almost stepped on a copperhead. (photo) If you venture off the trail or have pets, make sure you pay attention to where you walk. I enjoyed the ride. It was mostly shady and quiet in early August.
