Wellington Park is a popular and spacious dog park located at 565 Wellington Way in Lexington, Kentucky. Known for its beautiful shady trees and welcoming local community, this dog park offers pet-friendly trails, large open spaces, and separate fenced-in areas for dogs to run and play off-leash. The park is wheelchair accessible, features onsite parking, and is conveniently close to pet-friendly hiking and picnic areas, making it a favorite spot for both locals and visitors traveling with dogs.
This dog park is distinguished by its two generous play areas, shaded seating among the trees, and water fountains for both dogs and their owners. There are picnic tables, benches, and waste bag stations throughout the park, though visitors note to watch their step as not everyone cleans up after their dogs. Kids are welcome here as well, with amenities and trails suitable for families. Wellington Dog Park is perfect for socializing, exercise, and making new friends—both canine and human—in the heart of Lexington.
My dog, Floki, loves Wellington Dog Park.
Visiting from Missouri and found this park near our hotel. A great area to let the dogs run and make new friends. We also got some great tips for distillery trips from the humans that were there.
Went to the dog park and had lots of fun they have two huge play areas. Only 1 had water the the dogs and an area out side for water. Everyone seems friendly. Dogs will come love on you. Some people don’t clean up after their dogs poo so watch your step. They did have dog poo bags there. Will be back.
I love the dog park here! Beautiful and big, shade providing trees come summer, water fountain for dogs and their owners.
Unfortunately lately I noticed that people don’t p/u after their dogs anymore.
I do not mind if you don’t p/u YOUR dog’s poo ( we often don’t see when it happens, I understand) but please, p/u at least one other. Wouldn’t that be a good idea?
Also the porta John has turned disgusting!! I wish they could come clean and empty it more regularly as it seems to be used quite often.
6/23/24: the gate on the highway side of the park is not safely functional!
2/16/24: was back today. So sad! They cut down all the lovely undergrowth in the bigger area. It looked like it had been there forever with all the thick lianes. Can’t imagine it was rat infested with all the dogs running in and out of it daily. Anyway, the secret forest tunnel is no more.
Come to think about it, maybe the lianes were about to strangle the trees…
2023 Very nice dog park with big trees and water fountain. 2 fenced in areas of good size. There is parking right in front and even a Port-a-John, should you need one. Lots of friendly and fun dogs and nice people! I love this Park! We’ll be bark!😉
The second fenced-in area even has a patch of woods! No water here though but a much bigger space than the first one next to parking.
I also enjoy the few picknick benches.
