Well maintained great place for a walk or some trout fishing
Beautiful area to go. People need to stop leaving their garbage lay though. Also, fish populations have decreased dramatically in 2 years. Not sure what up with that. Otherwise, great place to walk and take the kids to fish.

Plenty of parking. Follow a trail to the left (no bicycles) to a foot bridge that crosses the canal. Then there’s a short steep hill to climb down to the river’s edge. Wading is difficult in the Lehigh River, due to fast current, a slippery river bottom, and deep pockets. Good size trout, especially in the spring and fall, when the water is colder, some panfish, and small bass can be caught. Wear waders with knee pads, in case you take a fall, and shuffle your feet while you walk, so you don’t trip over any obstructions. Wading boots with cleats, are recommended, not athletic shoes, and carry a staff (walking stick with you) for balance. There’s a deep section underneath the bridge pilings, about 1/4 mile downstream, rumored to have some real lunkers. The canal is loaded with bluegill and an occasional pickerel or larger bass. It’s a great place to take kids, but catch and release is recommended due to the stagnant water as these fish might not be safe to eat. Have fun, but be safe! Restrooms are across the street at the restaurant.
It’s a beautiful trail to walk on fromPalmerton to Lehighton right next to the calm n soothing, yet rushing noise of the face-paced Lehigh River currents, giving u an estimated 1½ long walk as u pass by friendly bikers n many many energetic n enthusiastic rafters enjoying & making the most out of a hot, summer day! Although the human passersby may give u a neighborly wave & wink….do watch out for the occasional baby Rattlers & baby Cottonmouths frequently sunning themselves on the warm rocks along the trail. For they r poisonously adorable & deadly unlike their very distant & much more docile 4-legged woodland relatives as in the Whitetail Deer n Black n Brown bear Cubs, u might happen to catch a quik peek at if u r lucky.
