Discover Leawoof Dog Park, a top-rated dog park in Leawood, Kansas, offering expansive play areas for local pups. This fully fenced, double-gated park features both a huge area for large dogs and a generously-sized separate space for small dogs, ensuring safe, off-leash fun for all canine companions. Amenities like seasonal water stations, agility equipment, benches, and poop bags make every visit comfortable for both pets and owners. The park is wheelchair accessible and easy to reach, located at 106th & Lee Boulevard.
Leawoof Dog Park stands out for its wide-open spaces, well-maintained grounds, and thoughtful features like shaded benches and waste stations. Owners can enjoy seating while the pups play, and families will appreciate nearby amenities such as picnic tables and public restrooms (though restrooms are a bit of a walk from the pup area). Some areas can be muddy—especially after rain or during the winter months—so plan accordingly! Whether you’re looking for dog-friendly hiking, agility fun, or just a relaxing afternoon outdoors, Leawoof is a pet-friendly destination worth visiting in the heart of Leawood.
I had high hopes but there are far better options for dog enrichment. The good? Wide open space. Room for lots of dogs to move around and play. The not so good? It seems like it was put on a flood plain. It’s muddy at times it doesn’t make sense to be muddy. Hardly any natural shade, or really any shade at all. That’d basically make this place a non-option on summer days. With all the natural brush and trees in the immediate vicinity, it seems like they really missed an opportunity to make this a nature park for dogs with trails like you find at other dog parks. It’s all just very “meh.”
Did the small dog park, which was huge! The larger dog park, adjacent to the smaller one, is gigantic! Secure entrance, meaning two gates to pass thru to avoid doggie escapes, dog watering stations, and poop bags available as well. There were plenty of shade and sitting benches for humans. I’ve never seen such a beautiful, well maintained dog park. 🐕
Wish we had found this place sooner. Great park with lots of open space. Water is seasonal so come prepared.
It is so nice to have a separate area for small dogs. Appreciate the parks folks thinking ahead and including a trash bin and poop bags in the middle of the area. There’s only one bench in the small pup area and it’s at one end (near the entrance). Since the space is long and narrow it would be great to have another seating option that isn’t at the end. There is also a low spot in the ground right in front of the only bench so there’s a mud puddle in front of the only seating option. The water drinking option is good but was turned off for winter season; probably not a way around that. Even without recent rain, the little pup area was VERY muddy in December. Since this area is downhill from the enormous large dog area, it’ll probably never be NOT muddy. Restrooms are quite far from the pup park.
The biggest 2 things for Leawood to improve in order to get a 5-star from me would be at least one more bench and better drainage. A bonus would be to increase the space for small pups to include some of the space uphill where the ground is already less wet.
Paw-sitively a Hidden Gem 🐾🦌
Shhh… don’t tell too many people, but this dog park is a total gem! Super clean, just the right size—not too big, not too busy, just right for a stress-free romp. The agility course? Total pup playground heaven. Bonus points for the deer sighting—we thought we wandered into a nature documentary. 10/10 tail wags. We’ll be back with treats and zoomies.
