The Lindsay Pettus Greenway is a beautifully maintained, pet-friendly trail located in Lancaster, SC, perfect for dog owners seeking a scenic and accessible spot for outdoor adventures. Known for its wide, modern paved paths combined with picturesque wooden boardwalks, the Greenway offers an ideal setting for dog-friendly hiking, jogging, biking, and more. The area is loved for its peaceful atmosphere, well-shaded trails, and abundant wildlife, making it a hidden gem for those looking to enjoy nature with their canine companions.
This Lancaster dog park destination is fully wheelchair accessible, featuring both accessible parking and entranceways. Ample public parking is available nearby at the Barr Street Learning Center. The Greenway is family-friendly and provides public restrooms, making it convenient for all ages. Though primarily a leashed dog walking trail without a dedicated off-leash or fenced dog area, dogs are welcome to explore both the paved pathways and shorter nature trails alongside their owners. When visiting on rainy days, be mindful of some low-lying areas that may become muddy or slick.
Just moved from Salt Lake City and had been looking for trails. Although no elevation, I really liked the paved paths and boardwalk combination. It’s well marked very shady in areas which is both good and bad. On a hot day it’s cooler but when it rains, there are puddles in low-lying areas that are muddy and slick. Not too many today. Few biting flies. May consider bringing bug spray next time. I used the all trails app and the path ended sooner than the app indicated due to construction of future progress. Round-trip was just under 4 miles. Parking was plentiful at Barr Street learning center.
A nice afternoon walk on this beautiful September day!! Some beautiful large trees to be seen on the Greenway and some beautiful wild flowers growing along the way
I have taken hundreds of photos here of insects and plants. It is a nice walk through the city of Lancaster in the wooded areas. It is along a flooding area, unfortunately.

An amazing hidden gem in Lancaster. I love taking my dog for walks here. It’s maintained very well!! Theres even a short nature path that i like to take him on where he can guide the walk and sniff and be a dog and then we do a good walk on the wooden path. I love it here. Very peaceful as well!
Great location and walking paths. Very modern and enjoyable place to walk and be in nature. Has very nice wide paved and wooden walkways. Great to go to just live a healthy lifestyle or to go to meditate.
