Ocean County Park

Ocean County Park is a large, scenic park in Lakewood, NJ, known for its wide range of amenities and natural beauty. Once the vacation estate of John D. Rockefeller, it features hiking trails, a disc golf course, sports courts, playgrounds, and an off-leash dog park. The park is family-friendly with picnic areas, barbecue grills, and kid-friendly activities, all accessible with wheelchair-friendly entrances and parking. With a focus on community events and well-maintained grounds, this park offers plenty of space for dogs and people to enjoy nature and recreation.

This is flagship county park in Ocean county in terms of amenities. While I prefer more secluded Wells Mills in this county’s park system, pleasant smell of white pines while hiking (legacy of being Rockefeller former vacation estate) is a major draw for me, and typical Pine Barren’s pitch pines just don’t have it.

This park was called before Pine Park when I was a kid, we would come out of the high school and go there to hang out. And the security guards would go looking for us. Those were the days. Its a great park and good memories!!

The Ocean County Parks and recreation department does such a wonderful job with events at this park. The biannual giant flea market really brings in a great crowd. And they always have a great food truck there. Another well maintained park with lots of amenities. They have a nice off leash dog park, disc golf area and much more.

LAKEWOOD: we have been quoted as saying that Lakewood is very congested, but you would never know it while enjoying all the nature that Ocean County Park has to offer. This park is huge and there are a lot of flat paths to walk on that meander through a disc golf course, a lake, tennis courts, and beautiful and very tall trees. This was once John D. Rockefeller’s vacation estate and if a park can be luxurious, this one is! There is even an off-leash dog park on-site and a K-9 police cemetery.

This is one of the most beautiful parks in Ocean County, with plenty of parking spaces. The beach is swimmable; but it does not always have a lifeguard on duty.
There are several trails inside. I enjoyed running with the scenic views.
