Had such a beautiful, peaceful hike at Helix Flume Trail in Lakeside on a late Monday afternoon! So happy it wasn’t busy, felt like I had the trail all to myself. They have parking (no bathrooms, though!), and I finally understood why there’s, uh, evidence of wildlife around… Let’s just say it’s quite a climb up there! Luckily, the trail was dry, but a heads up for rainy days, it could get slippery. For me, it felt like an easy-medium trail, and absolutely worth it for the views and that refreshing Monday reset. You should definitely give it a try!
nice parking although it made me laugh when i saw a handicap parking space at a trailhead. the first up hill the trail is well groomed but after that most overgrown with foxtail ( wear gaiters or your socks and shoes will be covered ( adk me how I know) the trail has such a gradual uphill that you cannot detect it and neither did I feel like I had a down hill.on the way back. scenery is pretty much the same. At the time I went there was no water available at the end of trail ( el cap resivoir dog park) due to contamination so went thirsty on trip back.

A very nice trail about a mile long will bring you to the saddle to see Lake Jennings.My dog played in the water and we were in and out in 90 minutes. Very step beginning but after 15-20 minutes you are out of woods.Plenty of parking and quiet till you don’t reach the lake.Nice views and a quick history lesson were we got part of water to SD.
Beautiful lush green all along the path, the path is mostly dirt with some stones here and there at certain parts. Parking available inside the fenced area. The beginning is a switchback up then you can choose a couple different routes to make your hike longer or shorter. Dogs are allowed, no restrooms available. Overall my new favorite with stunning views and easy path.
