Chargois Park, located on Guilbeau Road in Lafayette, LA, is a small, community-oriented space perfect for dog owners seeking a peaceful location for daily walks and exercise. While one of the lesser-known dog parks in Lafayette, the park features a walking track, workout equipment, playground areas, a basketball court, tennis court, picnic tables, and public restrooms—making it a versatile spot for families and their furry friends alike.
This pet-friendly park is praised for its wheelchair accessibility, both at the entrance and parking lot. Dog lovers especially appreciate the park’s inviting atmosphere for pets of all kinds, including friendly locals and a safe environment for walks with leashed dogs. While the park is not fully fenced and tends to be quieter than larger city parks, it provides ample green space, shaded areas, and tranquil paths that are great for daily adventures with your pup.
This is a small City Park at the base of a water tower. The amenities include regular and toddler swings, a small pavilion, a play ground area, some workout equipment, soccer fields and a track.
The main park in the city is Girard Park by the University and that one is the go to if you are visiting and can get around.
Overall this park is not bad, it’s just one of the smaller parks.
I am fairly new resident to the state of Louisiana. I am living the dream of my new found heaven on earth home! I really needed a peaceful place to tire my 1yr old German Shepherd with daily walks. Found! Both she and I love the view of all what the park has to offer, as we do a few laps on the walking path! Her and I love knowing that the park is a safe place for the furry friends, both doggies and kitties! ❤🐕🐩🐱🐈 And I love all the friendly humans! 🤗
