City of LaFayette Dog Park

City of LaFayette Dog Park offers a spacious and wheelchair accessible area with separate fenced sections for small and large dogs. The park features water fountains in both sections and some seating options. While the park allows dogs off leash and is good for kids, amenities like poop bags, adequate trash bin emptying, shade, and agility equipment are limited or lacking. Maintenance is sporadic and the park experiences some issues with gate security and pet waste management.

Took my 3 dogs here to get out of a hot house when my AC went out. There were 2 areas to choose from. BUT neither one had anything really for the dogs to do, like agility training stuff, & there was lil to no shade. It was VERY miserable & a bit depressing there. Plus, no restrooms. Probably will NOT be back.
The areas looked decently maintained! Large yard for the big dogs with a few pieces of older looking equipment. The small dog side only had a bench and fire hydrant. There was a poop station on both sides (no bags unfortunately) and a water station on both sides as well. There was a fair amount of poop left behind from other owners and it looks like the lower part of the big dog yard floods easily. Regardless, it’s an awesome spot to let your dog run around! My dog didn’t really play on the equipment but loved getting to zoom around and sniff! I loved how spacious it was. More seating for owners would be a plus.
If you have some tall outdoor boots and your doggo has all its shots, then welcome to the eternal bog of stench. Step with care. Poop bags are not supplied, and no one seems to be motivated to bring their own. There are signs to pick up waste, but I think it’s just for artistic purposes. The area is also mowed about once every 3-4 months. And for those that do toss their dog’s waste into the garbage container, it’s not emptied. Ever. On hot days, be prepared to go home and wash the smell off of yourself and your dog. Oh, and there are separate sides for small vs large. But it appears to be a free for all. There’s one plus – A large water pump with a very big bowl that’s always full of clean water. You just have to walk through the landmines to get to it.
The gates on the small dog side need to be fixed. Most small dogs are escape artists. Puppy went right through the gaps in the entry gates. And i had to chase them across the blacktop. Fix that please. People are also throwing cigarette butts in the fenced area.
Nice field for the dogs to run, they have separate areas for small and big dogs, and a water fountain that the dogs can lap water from.
