Thurston County Off-Leash Dog Park is a spacious and welcoming dog park located at 2420 Hogum Bay Rd NE in Lacey, Washington, right at the entrance of the regional landfill and recycling center. This large facility is known as a top dog park in Lacey, WA, offering pet-friendly outdoor space with extensive areas for off-leash fun and socialization. With two separate play zones—one dedicated to small dogs and puppies and a much larger space for big dogs—this park accommodates dogs of all sizes and play styles.

The park features several convenient amenities including secure double-gated entry, multiple watering stations, picnic tables, and benches. Large and small dog sections are both fully fenced for safety and peace of mind. While the park is beautifully open and set on a gentle hill, it’s important to note that shade is limited in most areas (the small dog side provides some relief). Regulars appreciate the friendly, responsible community and the clean grounds, although users are reminded to pick up after their pets as not everyone does.

This is a large facility located at the entrance of the regional landfill / recycling center. There are two large play areas. The small dog / puppy pen is about an acre in size. The large dog area is about five acres. The large dog area has multiple watering stations, trash cans, and picnic tables.
There is rarely an aggressive dog, but the do attend. Get your dog off its leash as soon as possible. The entry / exit pens are the best place to do this. Owners are required to clean up after their animal, but it’s obvious some simply don’t care.
It’s OK to take shy, timid, and old dogs into the small dog pen.
I’ve seen a surprising number of small children on the play field. I suggest caution as I’ve seen adults plowed over by oblivious playing ,/ running dogs.

Really needs some shade. Lots of traffic of good neighbors. Transfer station didn’t smell the place up, so I was surprised. Lots of gates and water sources were very nice. The being on a hill is nice feeling, and the surrounding environment makes the place welcoming.

We love taking our dog here. Not much shade so in the hot days it’s a little tough on our little girl. She usually lays down in the water hole. But they’ve got multiple places to fill water bowls as well as great entrance Gates. There is also a separate area for smaller pups. On that side there is some good shade. For the most part, the people who go there are responsible for their dogs. Overall, it’s a pretty good community. We have not had any bad experiences so far.
