Beautiful public beach, except the furthest hotel sent out a security guard and told us that this area of the BEACH IS PRIVATE, SO WHY DON’T THEY HAVE A SIGN AND PERMIT FROM THE CITY OF SAN DIEGO???? WE WEREN’T THE ONLY ONES KICKED OUT!!! After walking from the pier to the EXCLUSIVE HOTEL WITH THEIR OWN PRIVATE BEACH, THIS HOTEL NEEDS TO BE ON A PRIVATE ISLAND, SO THEY CAN HAVE THEIR PRIVATE BEACH!!!
The hardest part was getting there, tourists at our finest lol. The parking lot to beachfront is short and easy, can be a little bit of wait or circling for a spot. Came to stay all day. Showers and restrooms, lifeguards. It got crowded but not overly. Sea loins up the coast not far from beach, neat to see them. Beach was clean, people were kind. Lifeguards did a great job. Beautiful day.
Aka Kellogg Park is home of the famous sand bar that extends hundreds of feet from beach which allows people to wade in water with gentle waves. Awesome place for people of all ages and abilities. Highly recommend this beach when in La jolla ⛱️

Walking here during sunset and watching the palm trees is truly relaxing. If you stay at a nearby hotel, you can walk straight from your room to the beach. Restrooms and showers are free and cleaned regularly, but they’re not spotless. Parking is also free, but finding a spot can be tricky, so it’s best to come early. You can bring your own food and drinks and enjoy them comfortably while you’re here. Overall, it’s peaceful, safe and perfect for families and couples. Highly recommend spending a day just watching the ocean, listening to the waves and feeling the breeze. It’s a place that really calms your mind and lifts your spirit. 🌴✨
Love it! Though it was busy, it was still serene enough to enjoy. There’s so many places to sit – in the sand by the water, on the park benches, at the picnic table, on the lawn. A great place to visit.
