Flint Canyon Trail offers a scenic and pet-friendly hiking experience in the heart of La Cañada Flintridge, California. This popular trail is perfect for dog owners seeking a peaceful outdoor adventure with their furry friends. The area boasts well-shaded paths, plenty of natural beauty, and a tranquil environment, making it an excellent choice for both casual walkers and avid hikers. With around 4 miles of interconnected trails, it’s easy to tailor your visit to your dog’s energy level and your own preferences.
While there is no dedicated, fenced dog park at Flint Canyon Trail, leashed dogs are welcome throughout the area. The trail is known for its cleanliness, ample tree cover, and occasional benches for resting. Parking can be a bit tricky—visitors are encouraged to arrive early and park along Hampstead Road. This dog-friendly hiking destination is suitable for both kids and pets, offering an enjoyable experience for families and dog owners alike.
Nice and easy hike. Parking is a little difficult if you go late. So early hike is alot better.
Very clean and very beautiful trail, not crowded was the best part, went on Sunday aroud 3pm and we saw only 10 people in trail.
Loved the hike. Small one, but still it’s good. The total hike was around 4 miles. Don’t get lost as there are lots of trails around and they all look similar. The difficulty level depends on the one you take.
Update: Have taken this so many times since my initial review and love this trail. This was initially to create a video for Mari Copeny aka LittleMissFlint for her 17th birthday.
Once you realize the path begins behind the sign, enjoy the path that winds through a community and offers amazing outdoor feel to Cherry Canyon.
This trail is awesome. A short half mile hike to the top of the mountain which takes about 12 to 15 minutes. The hills are easy to hike for young and old. I do suggest that you wear hiKing shoes with good traction since the paths are dirt and sand. The best part of this trail is a lot of trees and shades. Perfect on a warm day. There are also some benches that you can rest along the way. One thing.though is that there’s is no parking at the entrance. You need to park on Hampstead RD and walk a short distance to the entrance of the trail.
