Located in the scenic foothills a short drive from downtown, Tommy Schumpert Park offers one of the best dog park experiences in Knoxville, Tennessee. This expansive, pet-friendly park features three separate fenced areas, catering specifically to small dogs (under 30 lbs), large dogs (over 30 lbs), and pups who love to swim, thanks to a dedicated pond area—making it the perfect spot for dog-friendly hiking, running, and off-leash adventures.
Visitors rave about the spacious off-leash zones, shady walking trails, and wide-open green spaces ideal for both high-energy play and leisurely strolls. The park also includes amenities such as parking, benches, and picnic facilities. With easy access to nature trails and plenty of room to socialize, Tommy Schumpert is a go-to destination for dog lovers looking to escape the city’s hustle and bustle and explore beautiful, pet-friendly trails in Knoxville. Note that ongoing construction, especially around the softball fields, can occasionally affect certain areas, and visitors are encouraged to pick up after their pets to keep the park clean for everyone.
My go-to place to take my pups! They love swimming in the pond area and there is plenty of running room for them to play til they plop.
Great place to walk.
Great atmosphere far from the city’s hustle and bustle.
Great baseball fields and picnic facilities.
Great for running, jogging, and walking the dog as well.
There is currently construction going on for new softball fields, so be prepared for that, and while phone service is good, internet connectivity is poor.
My dogs and I love this park. It’s very spacious and you can even talk your dog on a walk outside the dog park. I just don’t understand why other people can’t pick up after their dogs.
Love the dog park. I take all 3 of my dogs. Only had one issue of a dog being brought to the park who was in full heat. Other than that my dogs love it. Just saying dog park & they know where we go. My oldest dog (not very social) thrives here.
What a fantastic dog park! 3 different fenced-in areas. 1. Up to 30lbs. 2. Over 30 lbs. 3. Has a lake for dogs to swim in! ALIYAH, my daugters Dutch Shepherd, went in areas 2 and 3. She loved the water and racing around the area with the other dogs there. 🐕
