🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Dogwood Park offers a spacious, dog-friendly area in North Knoxville, making it a popular spot for local pet owners seeking a convenient dog park in Knoxville, Tennessee. The park features a large, open off-leash area for dogs of all sizes to socialize and exercise. While there’s no separate space for small or large dogs, the expansive layout allows plenty of room to run and play. Shade from numerous trees and plenty of benches create a comfortable setting for dog owners to relax while their pups roam free.
Dogwood Park is wheelchair accessible, making it easy for everyone to enjoy the park’s amenities. While the park provides water fountains for pups, visitors recommend bringing your own water, especially in colder months when the water is sometimes turned off. Public restrooms, picnic areas, kids’ playgrounds, and dog-friendly hiking and walking trails make this a great all-ages destination. Just remember to bring waste bags, as they are not always available on-site, and help keep this Knoxville dog park clean for everyone!
The dog area is pretty large but there is only one. There is not a separate small dog area that I was able to find. The only other issues I found is that people don’t pick up after their dogs. I found plenty of piles walking the perimeter checking for breaks or spaces where my Boston Terrier puppy could potentially get out. Which leads me to my other issue. There were a few places she could easily get out if she wanted to. There is a fairly large area where there is a space under the fence that a small dog could get out or even some medium size dogs, if they really wanted to. I think this park is fine, even nice for dogs that aren’t escape artists or eat poop. Just make sure you check your shoes and dog’s paws when leaving.
Pets had not been picked up after (probably because there were no waste bags), the water was shut off, and there is no separation for small and large dogs.
Nice dog park! I only take off one star because it’s not divided with small dogs on one side and big dogs on another. People are sometimes lazy and leave poo bags on the concrete entrance. . . Even though there are garbage cans 20 feet away. There is a little drinking fountain for the dogs and no less than 3 bowls sitting out usually. Lots of benches for humans to relax on. Lots of trees and shade. 💙💙💙
It’s an ok park super close to our house so we will be going back. I just feel like the equipment was put there and forgotten, definitely needs more care and maintenance.. lots of peeling paint, some corrosion, and they have a spinning bit that’s suppose to show gears moving under the shield but you can barely see through the shield now. Maybe I’m just too picky. Idk.
Great place to bring dogs to run around and play with other dogs. I just wish everyone picked up after their pups.
