We were traveling and needed a stop for the dog to get some exercise. This park near Knoxville was a great choice. Two paddocks.. one for large dogs (30 lbs or more) and the other for smaller dogs and puppies. The large paddock has a jumping dock for dogs to dive into the lake. Plenty of parking, including three handicap spots right in front of restrooms and paddock entrances.
Both sides have a steady amount of people and dogs.
Rumor has it, several years ago, on 2 separate incidents a dog died on the large side. Only the regulars know about it.
The small side has a group of regulars i describe as silver hair and semi retired. This is one of the best parks for small dogs after work.
Best place for large dogs is Plum Creek, which is also attached to a Frisbee golf course and mini playground. The after work hours are most popular!
Great place to bring our pup. Big open area where the dogs can play with each other and burn off some energy. There’s a place for the dogs to hydrate with a couple of giant bowls and a tap to fill them. There’s a swimming area, behind a gate so people can keep their dogs dry if they’re so inclined.
But to me the most special part of this dog park is that some of the adjacent forested area is inside the fence for some off-leash “hiking” (it would have to be a lot bigger to take the quotation marks off).
Five stars awarded by my dog.
The only thing that could make this park better is more shade.
This is the best designed dog park we have ever visited! We were traveling through the area and wanted to tire the dogs for the next leg of our trip so we stopped. Very large areas with plenty of shade. Shaded walking trail around most of the park. Access to water for swimming or wading. Most impressive was a pier for dog diving. While our dogs did not participate it was fun to watch the ones that did. Disappointed that the doggy drinking fountains did not work but we always carry our own water.
I take my dogs almost every day to our local pretty urban dog park (don’t get me wrong it’s pretty awesome) but they had an absolute field day swimming off the ramp. The people and dogs we encountered were friendly and chill. No ball thieves 🙂 Not many other features besides the wooded area but tons of room for pups to play and fresh water. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Knoxville.
