If you’re searching for a scenic and relaxing place to enjoy the outdoors with your pup, Sojourner Truth State Park in Kingston, New York, is a fantastic destination. This new state park features paved walking and biking paths as well as dirt hiking trails that take you to beautiful viewpoints of the Hudson River. Dog owners will appreciate the wide, well-maintained paths, picturesque riverfront pavilion, and the opportunity to spot autumn foliage along the river.
The park is known for its friendly staff, community events, and accessibility for all guests. With restrooms available and a mix of paved and natural trails, it’s a great spot for pet-friendly walks in Kingston and for anyone seeking dog-friendly hiking in the Hudson Valley. After your visit, downtown Kingston offers pet-friendly cafes like Pinkerton’s, just a short drive away.
This will the place to be to see the autumn colors along the Hudson River. Nice paths to walk, run or ride a bike. I saw several people walking their dogs. The pavilion along the river is relatively new and is great for looking out on the river, take a rest or chat with a friend. Getting to the park means driving through a neighborhood on a more narrow road. No signs until you arrive at the park. After your visit, go to local places for a meal or coffee. My fave is Pinkerton’s and is less than 15 min drive.

We hosted a community event to honor men’s mental health. The park is beautiful and the staff is wonderful.

There are many ways to get to this park. As usual scenic Hudson did a great job. I love the fact that they have restrooms and a nice walking path that takes you down to the river for all to enjoy. I can’t wait to explore more of the park.
