Kent Falls State Park is an absolute gem in the northwest corner of Connecticut. The highlight, of course, is the stunning waterfall that cascades down a series of steps, making for a truly picturesque scene—especially in the spring or after a good rain. The trails are short but steep, offering a great workout with rewarding views at the top. There are several well-placed lookout points where you can pause and soak in the beauty of the falls and the surrounding forest.

The park is well-maintained, with clean picnic areas, grills, and plenty of open space to relax with family or friends. It’s perfect for a day trip, especially if you enjoy photography, nature walks, or just sitting by the water and unwinding. It can get a bit crowded on weekends, but it never feels overwhelming. If you’re in the area or passing through Litchfield County, it’s absolutely worth a stop.

Highly recommended for families, nature lovers, and anyone looking for a peaceful escape into nature!

Beautiful!! Hike is moderate difficulty because of stairs and rugged terrain, but there is a hand rail and stairs most of the way to the top. Beautiful views that do not disappoint! Park is clean and waterfall at the top has less force than videos past. Possibly because of a down tree across the river at the top above the falls.

Loved the beauty and the silence. We were lucky to be the only one out here. You have space for family barbecue or for your dog to run. Or the kids. Fantastic. Seems that you can even fish. Adorable place.

Very pretty park with a 250’ tall waterfall and a large grassy area with picnic tables. There is a long set of rock stairs that are well built with a hand rail all the way up. There are a few platforms off the stairs to see the falls.

Kent Falls in Kent, CT is easily one of the most popular—and most beloved—waterfalls in the state, and after visiting, it’s clear why. With a spacious open field, picnic benches, and grills, it’s the perfect spot to spend the day soaking in the beauty of the falls.

It’s a family-friendly destination with a 3 out of 10 difficulty rating—just a walk across the lawn and a few stairs if you want to get closer to the falls. For the brave, there’s a stairway that leads you up alongside the cascades for a more adventurous view.

This is the only spot on our waterfall road trip where you can truly relax, hang out, and let the falls be your backdrop for an unforgettable afternoon.
