Barkingfield Park is a popular dog-friendly destination located in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. The park offers expansive mowed walking paths surrounding lush fields, making it a great spot for pet-friendly trails and outdoor strolls with your furry companion. There are two separate fenced dog park areas – one for small dogs (temporarily closed for reseeding) and one for large dogs, ensuring a safe space for dogs of all sizes to play off-leash. In addition to the dog park, visitors can enjoy scenic hiking trails, a pavilion with picnic tables, and open fields perfect for a family day out.
Amenities at Barkingfield Park include accessible parking, picnic facilities, a port-a-jon, and a little library. The park is known for its attentive dog owners and friendly atmosphere, though visitors are reminded to bring extra water due to limited shade and to be mindful of ticks along the natural trails. Waste stations with bags and trash bins are provided for easy cleanup, and the paved parking area is wheelchair accessible. Whether you’re seeking dog-friendly hiking, a space to socialize your pup, or a peaceful stroll among nature, Barkingfield Park is a charming destination in southeastern PA.
Beautiful place to walk yourself or with your pups! Mowed walks around a couple of field perimeters and a dog park with attentive dog owners. While there are two separate sections for big and small dogs, the small dog area is temporarily closed for reseeding the grass. Be advised it gets hot here because there are no trees in the dog park area (or for much of the walking area around the field. So bring lots of water!
Probably the best dogpark I’ve been too. I don’t necessarily go for the dogs, the paths around the dog pen is hands down amazing. Just beware of ticks. Otherwise a absolute charming stroll at this park is with the 30 min drive I make from Coatesville.
The entrance is good, but they need to fix the closure of the fence. It’s been broken for a very long time. Park provides baggies & trash bin for the poop. What is sad & makes me mad is that owners don’t pick up after their dogs. It’s EVERYWHERE!! The park also provides balls & toys in a basket. However, owners take them home & never bring them back. Most times, the basket is empty. It has large patches with no grass, too. For us, it’s the fact that owners don’t pick up their dogs poop!!! When you walk in there, you have to walk with head down to make sure you don’t step in it. So disappointing. Owners are disrespectful & don’t care. We won’t be returning.
I take my great dane regularly! Well worth the 30 minute drive. Two nice size fenced in pens for about 10 dogs able to run about supplied with plenty of dog toys, another pen few feet separate as well. Amazing walking trail with open huge fields leading to a small creek! Not paved. Great dog parents especially around the 4olclock hour. Range from small to extra large dogs good verity, typically medium size dogs.
Great dog park that is relatively new!! There are picnic tables under a pavilion, a port-a-jon, a little library, hiking trails, and a dog park for both small and large dogs.
