Kennebec KOA Journey

Kennebec KOA Journey is a small, quiet KOA campground offering RV camping with full hookups and clean, level sites. It features onsite parking, a playground suitable for children, and a dog park with poop bags available. While amenities are limited compared to larger KOAs, it provides a safe, comfortable spot for overnight stays with showers and wheelchair accessible parking. The grounds are well maintained, although some visitors have noted issues with flies, gravel making tent staking difficult, and older bathroom facilities. Overall, it is highly recommended for a peaceful stopover in small-town USA.

A great site in small town USA. Management staggered the overnight campers throughout the grounds for a feeling of privacy that was greatly appreciated. Clean bathrooms, sites and doggie park. Grounds were well manicured with attention to detail. Highly recommend a stay here.
Nice clean flat KOA campground. I’m a tent camper and this place was horrible if you needed to put stakes in the ground. The entire campground is covered by sharp red granite gravel. Even the tent spots have gravel exposed or just under the grass. Extremely windy when I stayed. Could only pound in two of four guy lines.
This was a stop for the night for my husband and I as we made our way to the Badlands at the end of August this year (2024). It was a small KOA and not as many amenities as others might offer. However it was the perfect distance between stops for us. A great, quiet place to sleep and the staff are near incredible!
I understand that other KOAs probably offer more, but if you need a safe, comfortable spot to sleep, complete with showers then this is the place. We would easily stop here again. Enjoyed it 🙂
I will say there were flies like crazy and we busted out the good ole Bug Assalt which depleted our salt chamber. hahahaha. I think I included a picture of it on the ground somewhere in the pics. Good times 🙂
Keep going, this place has nothing to offer, old and run down unwelcoming old women at the front desk, zero hospitality. Building is decades past it’s design, nothing has been updated, bathroom and shower are tiny for when people were much smaller, no hot water in the men’s room for hand washing or showers. Did I mention resort prices with no working amenities. Only good thing I have to say is that there were poop bags at the dog park.
This was a nice option for an overnight after a long day of driving. The site was very level, long and had full hook ups. We did not take advantage of the pool or playground but both looked very nice.
The picnic pavilion looked very nice and each site had an aluminum picnic table and fire ring.
The mosquitos were out in full force so we didn’t wander around much.
