Keene Dog Park is a wonderful dog-friendly destination located within Wheelock Park in Keene, NH. Opened in June 2024, this large, fenced-in dog park offers spacious areas where local pups can socialize, play, and enjoy the natural shade provided by mature trees. Designed for community use after ten years of dedicated volunteer effort, the park has become a favorite gathering spot for dog owners in the area, providing a peaceful, pet-friendly retreat just moments from downtown Keene.
What makes Keene Dog Park unique are its separate sections for small and large dogs, ensuring a safe space for all breeds and sizes to stretch their legs. While dogs enjoy their off-leash freedom, owners will appreciate the comfortable shaded spots, water station for thirsty pets, and a friendly atmosphere. Though the park is fenced and provides plenty of room to roam, please note that parking is located roughly 500 feet away and direct handicap access to the dog park is currently limited. For visitors seeking the best dog park experience in southwest New Hampshire, Keene Dog Park is a must-visit spot.
We love the dog park! My foxhound has so much fun with his friends here.
Huge fenced-in area with shade, water and peaceful setting. One huge negative is that there is no handicap access, all parking is 500 feet away.
All other amenities within Wheelock Park have handicap access, why doesn’t the dog park?
Big park for dogs. Tree stumps everywhere, but considering it took 10 years for volunteers to raise the money and convince the city of Keene to give up some land, it’s understandable. Would have been enormously expensive to remove the stumps and install proper drainage.
I hate putting a 4-star review on what should be a five-star dog park and it would be if the parking wasn’t so far away from the actual park. Not a big deal for folks with regular mobility but if you’re handicapped. Forget it. The only other suggestion I would have is to put waste receptacles within the dog fenced area currently they’re just outside so it makes it a bit awkward you have to leave your pup on supervised while you get rid of it or hold it lol.But they did a really great job other than that really well done it’s nice and shaded. I love that there is two sections for small dogs and then one for regular dogs!. Very nice facility and a wonderful addition to the town I’m sure!
Keene did an amazing job with their new dog park opened in June 2024 I was told. Great shade under the trees and lots of room on the big and small dog sides.
