It’s one of my favorite trails in the area with a few loops that allow me to switch it up each time I go. I love going there all seasons of the year and take my dog for a quick hike. The trail is well maintained and there is a bathroom in the lot. Parking in busy days is very limited, but people overflow park on the side of the main road. They really ought to build a bigger lot, though.

I had the pleasure of exploring these trails that wind alongside the Little Patuxent river and the historic B&O rail tracks, and I must say, it was a nature enthusiast’s dream. The beauty of nature, combined with the rich history of the railroad, made for a truly captivating journey. The sound of the river’s gentle flow provided a soothing backdrop to the hike, while the rail tracks reminded me of Maryland’s rich history. I highly recommend this trail to anyone seeking a delightful blend of nature and history in one picturesque setting.

Easy to follow, color coded trails. Perfect trail for beginners, mild elevation changes and a beautiful view of the water. Photos were taken in February 2025.

Perfect shaded trails for hot summer days. It was 90+ today and I felt great. Highly recommend!

As an introvert, I like trails where people are clean, quiet, and respectful of the environment and others. I think this trail does well at that.
Here are some mushrooms I found without leaving the marked trail.
