This location is probably one of the messiest I’ve been to. Clothes all over the fitting rooms, carts left with clothing piled so high. Only one cashier that we waited for who then says cash only, so we have to go to self checkout. Self checkout guy is only helping 2 women by scanning their items for them, and after waiting for 5 freaking minutes I just decide to leave without it. I wanted an item that wouldn’t scan and had no help or recourse. Then a wandering manager finally pops up to stop me because an item we were leaving in had a metal alert that I didn’t notice. So the manager was able to do that, but not see the chaos at the register/self checkout and not step in to help out.
I was very disappointed in shopping at this location. When I got on line to pay for my items I was told cash only, otherwise you need to go to the self checkout. When I responded by saying I prefer to check out where the sales associate was, they told me it’s store policy which was very confusing to me being that I had just been at another Kohl’s location and that wasn’t the case. I prefer dealing with a person so if in fact I have any questions regarding pricing, coupons or Kohl’s cash I have someone to ask. It’s ashame that customer service is being taken away.I prefer a more personal shopping experience and this is the reason why I chose to go into a brick n mortar store. Otherwise I could just go online to shop. Wake up people…more n more jobs are being lost to machines which of course takes away the personal experience of shopping. So very sad. 😔
I recently visited your Jericho location twice after being recommended, and while I was impressed with the store’s cleanliness and merchandise selection, the checkout experience was extremely disappointing.
Both times, I was directed to self-checkout—even with a significant number of items and security tags still attached. I spent nearly NULL over two days, and I do not expect to remove tags, scan items, or bag my own purchases. I am not an employee, and I come to a store for service—not to do the work myself.
On my second visit, there was a long line and only one cashier, who was only assisting customers paying with cash. Older shoppers around me were just as frustrated. It’s clear the policy is driving this, not the staff, but it’s a poor experience regardless. When district managers were present, things ran more smoothly, but once they left, the support vanished.
Customer service should extend all the way through checkout. Otherwise, what’s the incentive to shop in person? I came back once because I liked the selection, but I won’t return to any store that treats self-checkout as the default.
My favorite part of this store is the Amazon returns counter all the way to the back and left, and from that perspective, this store gets all 5 stars. Ample parking, clean parking lot, usually not a very crowded store. The returns counter is quick and efficient and usually without a wait.
I visited this store on a Wednesday afternoon to purchase a specific pair of socks. The website indicated that this location only had a larger size available and suggested placing an online order with shipping. However, based on a previous experience where I found my size in-store despite the website’s information, I decided to check in person before ordering. Sure enough, I found not just one but two packs in my size, which makes me think their inventory tracking could use improvement. I’d recommend they keep the website updated to reflect actual stock availability more accurately.
While shopping, I found the store somewhat disorganized. There were unpacked displays scattered around, and it was difficult to locate the sock section due to a lack of signage. I had to ask an associate for directions, but instead of guiding me directly, they just pointed me in the general direction. Additionally, only one cash register was open for cash transactions, and the cashier was pushing customers toward self-checkout. It wasn’t clear if they were short-staffed, but I noticed a few employees standing around chatting instead of assisting customers.
On the positive side, the store had a large parking lot with plenty of spaces, and overall, it was relatively clean. They also had a nice collection of spring and Easter-themed items, which were well-displayed and easy to find.
Overall, my experience was decent, but there’s room for improvement in inventory accuracy, organization, and customer service. I’d rate this location 3 out of 5 stars.
