Located in the heart of Jennings, Louisiana, Oil and Gas Park offers a welcoming retreat for families, travelers, and their four-legged companions. Whether you’re seeking dog-friendly hiking, scenic spots for a lakeside picnic, or a break in your road trip, this pet-friendly park provides a clean, well-maintained environment with plenty of amenities. Highlights include a beautiful lake, covered picnic areas, public restrooms, playgrounds for kids, and wheelchair accessibility. Ducks and other wildlife make this spot particularly inviting, and the park’s open areas are ideal for strolls or enjoying a relaxing moment with your pup.
Unique to Oil and Gas Park is the famous Gator Chateau, where you and your family can meet and even hold baby alligators during staffed hours—a favorite for visitors young and old. The park hosts regular family events, has plenty of shade, and is known for its peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. Though there isn’t a dedicated fenced dog park, leashed dogs are welcome throughout, making it a prime stop for anyone searching for dog-friendly activities in Southwest Louisiana!
It was overcast when we arrived but absolutely lovely still. The ducks and duck/turkey cross were friendly. They offered complimentary coffee and brochures from all over LA. Sitting on the porch, with a cup of coffee and a beautiful view of the lake was an amazing break from the road trip. Just lovely!
We go to Last Resort here every October. It’s a really nice venue with plenty of room. The kids like fishing and running around the park. It’s a great spot for a car show, too! It’s spacious and laid out well.
This was a pleasant little stop. A Geocache brought us here after a nearby plane competition.
It seemed to be well maintained, bathrooms were clean, the lake was pretty, and the ducks were plentiful.
The animal mention takes a big change inside the place because during office hours, there are alligators inside to view!!! But wait, there’s more!! If you’re fortunate enough to be there when there is enough staff, you might get to pet, or even hold, a real live baby gator!!!
The staff was very friendly and informative. Passing through the area? Make this 1 of your pit stops!
Gator Chateau is located here and, if you can stop when it’s open, it’s an awesome chance to hold a baby alligator at no cost! They also have an enormous 89 year old alligator turtle that my people found fascinating. Very clean bathrooms. Nice stop!
What a fun stop along the way! We are Florida bound and have two littles who really enjoyed getting out of the vehicle for a bit, and we got to hold a 10 month old alligator! What a fun experience for the whole crew! There are also a lot of opportunities for photos:)
