Vista Trail, located at the Sonoma Coast Overlook in Jenner, California, is a pet-friendly trail that offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and the diverse coastline. This easy, paved loop trail stretches approximately 0.7–1 mile and is perfect for a leisurely stroll with your canine companion. The path is wheelchair accessible and mostly flat, making it a great destination for people of all accessibility needs. Parking is readily available in a good-sized lot, and there are restroom facilities on-site, which are more comfortable than standard porta-potties.
This trail is known for its ocean vistas, wildflowers, and picnic tables sprinkled along the route, providing ideal spots for picnicking and taking in the scenery. While the trail isn’t heavily maintained and may have overgrown areas, it remains a convenient stop for dog owners traveling along Hwy 1 to stretch their legs and let their dogs enjoy some fresh air. Please be considerate and clean up after your pets to help everyone enjoy this scenic dog park in Jenner, CA!
Beautiful views, short but nice walk with paved loops and some single track deer trails.. lots of dog poop bags left all over the place which is annoying.
An almost abandoned trail from the State parks department. The trail is a paved loop trail about .7 miles total but completely overgrown by vegetation and likely not cleaned up or maintained in 5+ possibly even 10+ years. The views were okay but similar views can be seen along the entire Not Cal Coast. I would save your time and skip this trail if traveling along Hwy 1.
Beautiful trail high above the ocean. Good sized parking lot. Nice views in all directions. This is near the northern end of Sonoma Coast State Park and the view toward the south reveals Goat Rock, Bodega Head, and Point Reyes. Views toward the north and east are beautiful as well. Definitely worth the stop and the 1-mile hike.
Very easy to walk the upper trail and a couple picnic tables sprinkled along wonderful views of the ocean and Sonoma coast. The trail is paved but it is overgrown and falling apart in places. Bathroom is a little nicer then a porta-potty but better then nothing. Overall, great place for a picnic or a place to stretch your legs.
This short trail is located right near the intersection between Route 1 and Meyers Grade Road. There is a small parking lot, a bathroom, and some picnic tables along the trail. The paved trail is mostly flat and can be done in about 20 minutes at a leisurely pace. The views of the Sonoma Coast are nice and right now, the wildflowers are just starting to bloom. In my opinion, there are better views along Route 1, but if you’ve been driving for a while and need a place to stretch your legs and pee, then this is not a bad place. I just wish dog owners would be more considerate of others and pick up after their pets.
