Ocean Cove Campground is a beautiful, laid-back campsite located on Highway 1 by the northern coast of California, offering stunning ocean views, hiking trails, and rocky beaches. It features amenities such as picnic tables, barbecue grills, public restrooms and showers, and is wheelchair accessible. The campground allows dogs and offers RV and tent camping with onsite parking. It is known for its peaceful environment, friendly staff, and natural coastal setting. While it has no electrical hookups and unpaved dirt roads, the site is great for those seeking a rustic camping experience near the sea.

Casual, laid-back camp with showers and toilets, a few tables; all dirt roads, no pavement, and uneven in spots. The sites are scattered somewhat randomly about, which gives a great “feel” to the place. No sardine-stacking here. Many of the sites are on or very near shoreline cliffs, with wonderful views of the sea and rocky terrain. It’s also easy to hike down to the water line, and there’s even a rough launch ramp for (very) small boats, SUP’s and kayaks and such.
There’s every type of visitor, from big diesel pushers to hikers, cyclists, motorcyclists, and every variation of traveler/camper. All we met were courteous, happy and friendly.
In addition, just across the highway are a store, a restaurant, and a motel. Really a great spot… not 5-star, it’s too “rough”, but that’s the way I like it.

I’m a first time camper. We drive all the way from Irvine to here! This view is amazing beautiful and worth the road trip here for highway 1. Highly recommend to everyone!

What’s not to love about this campsite? It’s located on Highway 1, north of Bodega Bay. Most campsites have a fire ring where you can burn wood and hang out by the campfire. The staff are friendly and the sites are clean.
There are no hookups, so you will be doing dry camping. There are plenty of outhouse sites, aka Honey Buckets and water spickets scattered throughout the park. There is one area where you can take an open roof shower. Make sure to bring quarters. The shower operates on 3 dollars worth of quarters, and for that, you get 6 minutes of hot water to wash yourself.
Quiet time is from 9pm to 9am. So sleep is wonderful. We were just there this past week, Monday night, until Wednesday morning. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
There’s a few hiking trails with breathtaking views. The store across the street offers fresh coffee in the morning and plenty of snacks, stickers, and camping food in case you don’t want to take a trip to the nearby restaurants.
This campsite is 1st come, 1st serve. Check in and out at the Ocean Cove Store across the street from the camp ground.
I highly recommend this campground.

Such a nice campground. Prepare for wind! The ramp down to the beach is steep, and the beach is pretty much rocks. But there are tons of beaches around the campsite you can visit.

At Ocean Cove where sea meets land,
God’s beauty shines on every strand,
A campground by the ocean wide,
Where waves and whispers softly glide.

Each site awaits with table set,
For morning meals or sunset’s net,
The salty breeze, the sky so blue,
Creation’s wonder all in view.

A little dock for boats to rest,
The ocean’s rhythm at your chest,
Or grab your boots and take the trail,
Where rugged shores and cliffs prevail.

The rocky beach, the crashing foam,
A wild and peaceful coastal home,
And if you know the clamming way,
You’ll dig for dinner by the bay.

But take just ten, that is the rule,
Let nature thrive — be wise, not cruel,
Then cook your chowder by the sand,
And thank the Lord for sea and land.

Ocean Cove — pure, wild, and free,
A glimpse of God’s artistry.
