Long Gulch Trailhead

Long Gulch Trailhead offers a scenic outdoor experience with access to the Colorado Trail. The area features beautiful hiking trails surrounded by quaking aspens, ponderosa, and Douglas fir trees. Hikers can enjoy a nearby stream with fresh cold water that requires filtration before drinking. While the trailhead is not wheelchair accessible and lacks signage for easy location, it provides a natural setting suitable for kids and outdoor enthusiasts. Parking is available, and the terrain offers a mix of forest and open valley with bogs and wild bushes.

This was a tricky trailhead to a trail head. The parking was good but the need to hike North to the actual Colorado Trail trailhead was confusing but resolved fairly quickly.
North into a fingered slope of quakies with ponderosa/Doug fir stands, or south over the ridge into an open valley covered in bog with potentilla bushes. either way it will show you the beauty of house/asphalt free nature
Great trails. Make sure you bring plenty of water and layers. It can freeze overnight even in June / July.
Easy to find from the forest road. Very pretty and access to stream if you have water filtration. Takes you to the section 5 trailhead start for the Colorado trail. There is some camp sites close on other side of stream.
A little difficult to find, as there is no sign marking the turn off. There needs to be more direction on where to meet up with the Colorado trail as well. The nearby stream provided crisp cold water after being filtered. Left my car there for 5 days while backpacking up from Watertown canyon with no issues.
