It is good, but it was not great. Like all state parks in Indiana, it has a baseline of good. We’ll take care of, clean, etc. I think that this park is geared towards fishing, and that isn’t what we were there for. The trails felt like a path from point A to point B instead of a hiking path. The pool was very nice, but the slide was out of commission, so that was a bummer. There was little to no cell coverage, but they do have wifi at many of the park buildings. The camp store was neat but a little less stocked than some of the other state parks. So, it was not a bad time, but compared to some of the other state parks, it leaves you wanting a bit.

First time camping here. Very nice campground. Had electric only. There are full hookups but all 8 were taken. Nice shelter house where we had a graduation party. Restroom is close and very clean.

A large park with a lot of fishing and tons of hiking. We took a 4 MI loop around the lake and although the signage could be better it was quite beautiful.

Nice camping spots, you just need to watch, some are unlevel and muddy, others are nice and flat. Limited full hook up spots. The spots have good spacing between them. Camping restrooms are clean. The West Shelter restrooms are full of wasps.Nice lakes to enjoy and lots of trails for hiking.

This is a beautiful place to stay in autumn. We love hiking the trails and enjoy all of the glorious colors and water views along them. The bridges on the trails add to the beauty rather than subtract.
We have tent camped in the past but are now spoiled to the quaint family cabins. They are well kept and very nice for the price! Each family cabin has direct access to the lake, which is great for fishing off the dock and for looking out across with your morning coffee. We highly recommend Shakamak!
