Battlefield Park Dog Park in Jackson, Mississippi

Located in west Jackson, Battlefield Park offers a large, tree-filled green space in the heart of the city. While the park itself has the potential to be a vibrant community gathering spot, recent reviews highlight concerns with maintenance, cleanliness, and safety. The playground and walking trail have seen periods of good upkeep, but ongoing issues with garbage and facility disrepair have made this spot less desirable for some families and pet owners.

This dog-friendly park provides ample room for walking your dog and enjoying shaded, grassy areas. However, visitors should be aware of minimal lighting after dark and intermittent problems with restrooms, which are sometimes locked or in poor condition. Be especially cautious if visiting alone or with children, and note that the park’s atmosphere can vary greatly depending on the time of day and local activity.

Drug infested.
Dangerous people.
Horrible maintenance.
Not safe for family.
Surrounding Neighborhood is full of criminals who wander over.
Bathroom and other facilities are not clean enough for rats and in such disrepair. Somehow it don’t bother the neighboring people.

Stay away. Let this park become the hell hole it’s becoming since obviously the people over it don’t care.

Photos not up to date.

#Hold Jacskon and parks and recreation accountable for complete incompetence and mismanagement.

Stopped here to move our legs and let her kids exercise.

When we arrived in the parking lot, it was apparent that this park has been totally let go.

Despite the beautiful trees and the potential for this place to be an amazing park, lack of care and maintenance has let it degrade to a point where no longer feel safe.

Everywhere you look there is garbage on the ground.
People are living out of the cars in the parking lot.

The tennis courts have let go where there are beyond usable.

The playground. Well the pictures look great, is suffering from a lack of maintenance.

There’s broken glass and lighters left laying around amongst other garbage on the playground.

Unfortunately, not a safe place for kids to play and not an enjoyable place to be for an adult with the amount of garbage and required repairs

Sadly had better days, at least as of April 2024. Stopped on way to Texas to use restrooms and let kids stretch their legs, but the public restrooms is closed and run down. Someone had broken in the locked mens restroom and there was water running out of something. We then walked across to a community center building and a family there let us use that bathroom. Afterward they encouraged us to move on and not stay at the park, that it wasn’t safe.

Beautiful park but some of the restrooms were locked. Had to walk what felt like a mile to get to another restroom.
