It’s so beautiful I love it. I can’t believe I found this review on it and it was only 7 miles away. I lived here from 1979 to 1991, I drove by it and never thought it was more than a pull over spot with the trash can. I moved back 35 years later and started reading about things to do in the area come across this review decided to go take a look at it enter discover that it’s so much bigger and go so much farther back and is so beautiful I can’t believe that I missed taking mychildren that I could have took them to places
I love roadside parks, and this one was an absolute joy! I immediately noticed how well kempt the park was, so I did some research.I found a July 18, 2008 article entitled Tip Top Park now in tip-top shape by Kevin Jenkins. It’s on the Daily Journal Online website, and here are some excerpts:”In 2005, Claire Wroblewski headed into the countryside in search of something she could do to better the community. She found a neglected roadside park, and worked with others to turn it into a beautiful, peaceful outlook… The park sits on both sides of Highway 21, southwest of Ironton on the way to Taum Sauk State Park.Wroblewski and the youths are members of Soka Gakkai International (SGI), a worldwide Buddhist organization dedicated to promoting peace through cultural understanding, education, human rights and preservation of nature. SGI, which has its roots in the philosophy of 13th-Century Japanese monk Nichiren, now has approximately 12 million members in more than 190 countries and territories.”
My favorite place to pull off on 72/21/49. There’s plenty of parking and a wooden deck overlooking the Arcadia valley. Great views!
Views are so-so, better in the fall. Picnic table makes it a stopped point to eat a bite and have a small picnic if out riding
