If you are searching for a welcoming spot for families and pets, Mcann Park in Ionia is a great neighborhood choice. Located on Hackett St, this small community park is known for being pet-friendly and easily accessible, making it perfect for casual outings with your furry friend or an afternoon with the kids. Although it is not a dedicated Ionia dog park, dogs are allowed and it’s a pet-welcoming space for leashed pets.
Mcann Park features a few pieces of playground equipment for children and is wheelchair accessible, ensuring it’s inclusive for everyone in your group. While the park is clean and well-kept, please note there are no restrooms, water fountains, or a designated dog run. There is also limited seating, with only one table and no benches, and while it offers an open area, there is no fencing between the park and nearby roads—dog owners should use caution. If you’re looking for a friendly, no-frills neighborhood spot for a quick play date with your dog or the kids in Ionia, Mcann Park is a convenient option.
I understand it’s a public park, but there was trash everywhere and there was even dog poop in the kids play area. Come on people, pick up after yourselves and your pets.
