Don’t bother going unless you want to pay literally NULL for a permit TO HIKE AND VIEW NATURE.My partner and I, thinking our basic WMA permits would allow us to access this area, and enjoy the spring blooms, were intercepted by FWC goons that acted like we were foolish for being there… because this public land requires a half thousand dollar permit and that information is not easily gleaned from their nonsensical website. After calling the FWC helpline, I got equally unhelpful interactions with a clerk that continuously told me to, “just read the brochure.” I continuously said brochure was causing the confusion. The issue was not rectified.I’ll end this by saying, public land should be PUBLIC. The fact that this is private logging land maintained by the state and taxpayer money is pathetic and speaks to the degradation of, and money grubbing in, our society.

My wanderings led me to this preservation one afternoon. I was greeted by a ranger patrolling the perimeter in a off-road buggy, it was Bigfoot! He stopped me and was inquiring about my being there. I was in non belief at that moment, I snapped to and replied excuses me but who are you. The large beast man stepped out of the atv and showed me his credentials. Sure enough it was legit. He was a warden for the Florida FWC. So I told him I was lost and he kindly gave me directions to the nearest town. He was very helpful and his name is Bubbles.
