Looking for a convenient dog park in Huntsville, Alabama? The City of Huntsville Dogspot offers a pet-friendly destination for local dog owners, featuring two separate fenced areas for both large and small breeds. Located under an overpass at 200 NW Cleveland Ave, this dog park is perfect for letting your pup off-leash to play, socialize, and burn off energy in a secure setting. The park’s wheelchair accessible entrance and parking lot make it welcoming for all visitors.
Dogs can enjoy plenty of room to run, a water source for staying hydrated, and an area to rinse off if playtime gets muddy. Dog owners will appreciate the seating provided for socializing or relaxing, and the availability of poop bags and trash bins for convenient cleanup. While the park features rocks and gravel with some grassy patches, its large open spaces ensure plenty of zoomies. The park is free to visit and open all year round, making it a top pick for those seeking a local off-leash dog park in Huntsville, AL.
It’s the dog park with two separate areas for large breed dogs and smaller ones. There is seating to socialize with other dog owners and a couple spots for people less social. There’s running water for the dogs to drink and an area to hose them down if you go on a wet and muddy day. You’re expected to pick up after your dog, but watch where you step, because not all owners are as responsible as you are, though most of them are good about looking after their dogs.
Great place to let your best friend out and run around. Big wide area and great people to meet there.
There’s not alot of grass in the area for large dogs. It’s mostly rocks. There IS a patch of grass and a small patch of dirt that equals to the size of maybe two average sized back yards.. the location itself isn’t too appealing, under an overpass, next to a train track, and running along side a busy street. There IS alot of dog poop, I mean alot.. so keep that in mind.. if you are a responsible owner you’ll notice the poop bags and trash cans… It’s not a place I’d go out of my way to visit, it’s close to where I live, and It’s good enough to allow my dog to run around and play with other dogs…
I love this little park. Two areas for dogs based off size, the other owners are usually respectful and friendly here! Photos confirm zoomies can be commenced here and friends come in all shapes and sizes 🙂
I really appreciate having a space like the Huntsville Dog Spot to let my dogs run and play, especially with how much room the large dog area has. It’s a great concept, but I do feel like this park could use some serious love and attention.
For starters, the poop bag stations were filled with random Walmart bags. I totally get making do with what you have, but having better quality bags would be so much more helpful. The large dog section itself is mostly gravel, and I personally would love to see more grass for the dogs to play on comfortably.
One of the bigger issues was the cleanliness—there were quite a few spots where owners hadn’t picked up after their dogs, and that made parts of the area hard to enjoy. I also noticed a lot of broken chairs, random plastic, and chewed-up items left around, which made me a bit nervous about my dogs getting into something unsafe.
It would be amazing if they added some nice benches for owners to sit on and just gave the whole area a refresh to make it feel more like an actual park instead of just a fenced-in lot.
Overall, I love the idea of the Dog Spot, but I really hope they invest some time and care into making it cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable for both dogs and their owners.
