Nestled in the scenic beauty of Hungry Horse, Montana, the Hungry Horse/Glacier View/Spotted Bear Ranger Stations offer a unique experience for nature lovers and their pets. Surrounded by majestic mountains, crystal clear lakes, and vibrant wildlife, this spot is ideal for those seeking pet-friendly trails, scenic drives, and peaceful water views. The park features a lakefront with a clean, stony beach, several picnic tables, grassy areas, and direct access to breathtaking views — making it an excellent place for hiking, picnicking, and lake activities with your dog.
While dogs are welcome, local guidance suggests that dogs should be kept on-leash except for possibly some designated areas, and there can be conflicting signage regarding pet access. Visitors consistently note the peaceful atmosphere, free parking, available restrooms, shaded spots (though limited), gazebos, floating docks for swimming, and open grassy lawns. With its laid-back atmosphere, scenic walking opportunities, and accessibility to both locals and tourists, this is a memorable destination for dog-friendly hiking or relaxing by the water in Flathead County.
beautiful, but that’s Montana
Very large and deep lake surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, and wildlife. It’s a very beautiful drive around the lake with several forrest service roads available. You will not be disappointed with the visit. Worth the drive!
One of my most favorite places. The South Fork river is iconic, even when the trout are not biting.
One of the best parks in the world hands down. Just pick your visiting season wisely. Also check out Bob Marshall or Flathead if you are in the area.
The guy was very helpful. We stopped in with no idea what to do around the area and he provided multiple great options for sight seeing. He also provided us some very interesting information about the forest fires and even some history. Thanks guys for caring!
