Located along the Mississippi River, the Park-N-Fish Recreation Area offers a peaceful, scenic retreat for dog owners looking for a relaxing outdoor experience near Hull, Illinois. Known for its river access and lovely sunsets, this dog-friendly park features picnic tables, public restrooms, and a tranquil setting perfect for pet owners seeking a quiet getaway. There is plenty of space for leashed walks and riverside strolls, making it an ideal spot for pet-friendly outings with friends or family.
What sets this park apart is its natural beauty and multi-use function: fishing enthusiasts will find plenty of opportunities along the river, while campers can enjoy free overnight parking for up to 14 days. Owners appreciate the available amenities, like trash bins and clean bathrooms, and the peaceful atmosphere away from busy city life. While the park does not have a dedicated fenced dog area or specific agility features, its open space and maintained grounds provide a comfortable setting for leashed pets and their owners.
Great little spot in the boonies away from civilization. Allows camping in the lot for up to 14 days. There’s bathrooms and trash, so please pick up after yourself. Access to the Mississippi River, with great sunset views. A good fishing spot that seems only used by a few locals. The maintenence guy was very nice when he came by.
Not much more than a gravel road that ends at a levee and a service road that allows you to scale (on foot) the levee. The (very) short service road ends at the river. There is a small spillway jutting out, into the river here, but when I visited, it was completely underwater. Had it not been for several downed trees and/or branch’s stranded on it, I wouldn’t have known that it was there. There were a couple of people fishing when I was there, but the only evidence of actual fish that I saw was a couple of (good sized) Asian Carp that had been pulled from the river.
If you are ‘confined to’ a wheelchair, you would not have been able to reach the river. Even if you’d been able to scale the levee (I wouldn’t have been able to). there is a locked gate to prevent unauthorized vehicles from passing, that would have also blocked a wheelchair.
While this wasn’t my ideal way to spend an afternoon and I doubt that I’d return, the fishermen here seemed to be having a good time, and it did have a pretty nice, scenic view of the river.
Can’t complain for a free overnight spot to park with some pit toilets, picnic area, and yeah cans. They even had TP!!
Clean bathrooms, picnic tables and trash cans available.
Honestly love going here, sitting down and fishing with friends. Great scenery by far, it’s relaxing and peaceful
