Much improved over the years. Howard City is a nice place now to stop and check out the Pennsylvania Railroad history and the old Grand Rapids & Indiana/PRR Depot. This area is much more visually appealing now and although Howard City is a sma town there is plenty to see and get a bite to eat. There is a real nice artesian well by the stream on the east end of town. A couple nice places to eat homemade food too.

We rode our bikes from the Sand Lake staging area north on the “new” paved section to the Howard City staging area. This section contains longer stretches of flat riding. Not too many people using this section as of our experience yesterday. It was a very good ride overall

This is a 92 mile paved railway that starts in Grand Rapids and ends in Cadillac. Perfect for bicycling, jogging, walking… No horses. It’s well maintained, There are trailheads at some towns. It mostly follows along side of old US 131.
