Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Millie Bush Dog Park is one of the best places in Houston for pups to run, swim, and make new friends. Located at 16101 Westheimer Rd, this top-rated dog park features spacious fenced areas specifically designated for both small and large dogs, ensuring a safe and fun environment for dogs of all sizes. The park stands out for its two swimming ponds, perfect for water-loving dogs looking to cool off and play fetch. Clean, well-maintained grounds, a friendly community of pet parents, and a peaceful setting make it a must-visit Houston dog park.
This dog-friendly park offers ample off-leash space, water fountains for both pets and owners, dog wash stations, and shade to relax after a fun play session. Although seating and shaded areas are somewhat limited and the park can get busy on weekends, the experience is always welcoming, especially for those seeking a dog-friendly park in the Houston area. Accessibility features include wheelchair-accessible entrances and parking, making it a great choice for everyone.
I am visiting from Ontario Canada and thoroughly enjoyed this park! Well kept and area for both small and large dogs. The pond in each area is also so nice so dogs that love to cool down and chase the ball/fetch in the water. My puppy 1 yr old went right in 😄. Bonus it has a people/dog water fountain !
The other doggies parents were very nice and helpful. My grandson and I went in the water accidentally! A pet parent help us out of the water and another pet parent gave us a towel. Thank you so much❤️
My husband and I started going to Millie Bush Dog Park starting back in May of this year, and we just love this dog park. I love that it has an area for the smaller dogs and the bigger dogs separately. The 2 lakes make it special and nice for all doggies to play and cool off. It is a great place to bring your furry friends to roam and meet new friends. I have never had an issue with other dogs being unfriendly. My Nova just loves to play and wants that from every dog she meets, and some don’t like that, lol
This place does have a dog wash and water fountains. Sorry, they are not pictured.
The only ding that I would give this dog park is that I wish that they had made it bigger in general. It can get congested quite quickly, especially on weekends, and there is not a whole lot of seating and shade like there could have been, but all in all, it is a great dog park and one of my favorites with fond memories.
The park isn’t bad, but (female dog owners especially) please be aware of aggressive male dogs.
At 12:27 pm today, 12/10/2024, a male dog approached the female dog we were walking and attacked her when she rejected him. When we pulled her out of the fight and tried to leave, the dog followed us and tried to attack at least 3 times. We had to physically fight it off each time. The last time, even the owner yelled “watch out” as her dog circled around us and dashed towards our dog who was leashed the entire time. I moved in front to protect her so he lunged at me and almost reached my face, then he lunged at my mom. Only after we pushed the dog away did the owner finally gain control of her dog. She, of course, never apologized and dismissed my comment about leashing her dog. Our dog is a shelter dog from Houston Humane Society, so she plays with other dogs everyday and is very comfortable around them. It was her dog who kept approaching us and attacked. It already ran to us when we first entered the park. Our dog just ignored it and continued walking. I’m sure the several witnesses at the time can confirm what happened.
We were luckily unharmed, but what if our dog was a smaller dog? What if I was a small child? The situation could have been terribly worse.
We left the park after less than 5 minutes of entering, and another dog owner followed. I now regret not calling Animal Control right at that moment because we were so shaken up. That dog should not be around in public.
I have added a photo with the aggressive dog circled.
My dog and I love this park!
It’s a great place to be at to go for a walk and the dogs have so much space to roam free off the leash and make friends.
Even have little showers to rinse off dogs after they swim in the pool!
What’s great about this park is that they don’t tolerate any dog aggression at all and I felt safe bringing my dogs here with friendly dogs and responsible owners. So this is where I’d come to often if I just wanna get out of the house
I can’t recommend this dog park enough! My pup absolutely loved it from the moment we arrived. There’s plenty of space for running and playing, and the park is clean, well-maintained, and safely fenced.
The highlight for us was definitely the swimming area. My dog is obsessed with water, and it was such a joy to watch him splash, swim, and play with other dogs in the pond. It’s rare to find a dog park with such a great swimming spot, and it made our visit extra special.
There are also shaded areas for resting, fresh water stations, and friendly fellow dog owners. We’ll definitely be coming back again and again. If your dog loves to swim or just needs a fun place to play, this park is a must-visit!
