McWilliams Dog Park – Houston, Texas

McWilliams Dog Park is a popular dog park in Houston, Texas located near Hermann Park at 1598 S MacGregor Way. This pet-friendly park offers a spacious, well-maintained area where dogs can run off-leash and socialize with other pups. Owners appreciate the wheelchair accessible entrance and parking, making it easy for everyone to enjoy the park. While the park is always clean and the people are friendly, it’s important to keep an eye on announcements, as occasional unscheduled closures can happen.

Unique to this Houston dog park, there are separate sections for large and small dogs, and the large dog area is especially popular for its water features like jets and sprinklers—perfect for cooling off on hot Texas days. Note that parking can be tight, and after rain the park can get muddy due to poor drainage. There’s a hose available to rinse dogs, and the dog park is also known for being kid-friendly, making it a great spot for the whole family to visit.

Decent dog park with two sides, one for larger dogs and one for smaller dogs. Parking here can be a little tight. The dog park does seem to close randomly and the Hermann park website should have the latest on openings but I did try and come one time when the website said it was open but it was still closed when I got there. The large dog side has a water feature with a bunch of water jets and sprinklers but the water fountain itself seems out of commission or it just doesn’t work well. The park has a hose on the outside to spray your dog down after playing. When it rains the park doesn’t tend to drain well so I probably wouldn’t recommend coming after any rain.

Love this park, it is always clean and the dogs there are friendly as well as the owners. Despite it randomly being closed and the terrible smell from the building next door, it’s a great place to let your dog run around and play with furry friends.

My dog loves this park! Lots of space to run around. Only bad thing is parking is kinda hard and its really muddy in certain areas after it rains! Love the water sprinklers the dogs can play in though!

Great park unless you are trying to go on Monday, when they close both small and large dog areas at the same time for maintenance. They eventually open that day but the time varies greatly. Limited parking. Today, Tuesday, they shut down for maintenance without any explanation or advance notice.
