FAQ for Canine Behavioral Services Inc. in Hopkinton Rhode Island:
I’ve been working with Kevin for a bit with my dogs over excitement and jumping on people. He has turned such over excited dog into a dog who listens. I can take her to work now and she stays right by my side. I also take her to my grandchildren’s ball games and she stays right next to me. She may be happy to see everyone but one word and she sits. It’s amazing how good she is. The first time I had to call Kevin to tell him how excited I was about how well she behaved, I was so proud of her. I think it was more difficult to train me than my dog but Kevin is very understating and patient. He truly takes pride in what he does and is excellent at what he does. I’m so glad we found him and would highly recommend him to anyone. You won’t be disappointed. My dog even knows when we’re going to his facility she wakes up in car and gets so excited to see him.
Hi Brian and the entire team at CBS.We want to thank you for the amazing behavioral training services you provided to Lucy G.Our Lucy is a 4 year old Schnauzer/Poodle rescue we adopted with some aggression issues. Brian and his dedicated team worked with Lucy during the month of board and train and has continued to provide excellent advice based on observations made during the in-home sessions.Lucy is doing great during our loose leash walks in the neighborhood, at parks and on rainy days at Lowe’s. She trots into her crate at bedtime without any prompting. She is doing well on recall command and will improve as we devote more time to this training.Lucy is a work in progress, and we understand that greater improvements will come in time. We are in no rush as Lucy is a loveable little girl and worth the time.We plan to use CBS for boarding whenever possible so that Lucy can continue to grow and learn as part of the pack.We know we can rely on Brian, Laura, Thomas and the entire CBS team to help us with any issues that may arise in the future.Thank you for all you do to enrich pet’s lives.Marcia & Wayne G.
We got my Aussie/Husky mix, Rex, about 18 months ago after spending the first 9 months of his life as a stray in Mississippi. He came to us a good and affectionate boy, but definitely had some hesitation toward other dogs. Leash reactivity was a big issue, ad we are an active family. Furthermore, once he decided he liked a dog, he would force his friendship on them which didn’t always end well. He was a lot.We initially chose Canine Behavioral Speciaists due to their close proximity to our house, but have been beyond impressed with them. We have used the Daycare and overnight services as well as getting his nails trimmed. The daycare has been invaluable. With monitored play time, he has learned from other dogs how to behave and has become very emotionally intelligent to the feedback from other dogs. We have stopped forcing friendship, and now are very okay with just being pack members with other dogs and not besties. His ability to greet dogs on a leash is light years beyond where it was when he came to me. It isn’t perfect, but we are 95% of the way there. Mostly because Rex is more confident in reading the other dog, a direct byproduct of using the daycare services. We send him one day a week. Sometimes twice. Often we don’t need the services, but it has been such an invaluable asset to him adjusting to us with a young family (kids of 2 and 6) that we will send him anyways just to keep up the socialization and ability to interact with the pack.Plus he loves his time there. We expect to continue to work with the team here for many years to come and i can confidently recommend them without hesitation or reservation.
CBS has been amazing for our girl, Naya! She started as a pup in their two-week day training program, and we’ve kept her in daycare ever since. The staff is incredibly accommodating, always working with our schedule, and their love for the dogs truly shows. As a first-time dog owner, it means the world to see how excited Naya gets when we pull into the parking lot—she can’t wait to see her friends and the wonderful staff! It’s clear she’s well cared for in a safe, fun environment. She was shy and timid at first but they have really assisted in breaking her out of her shell and she has expanded her “friend group”. This is noticeable outside of daycare as well!CBS came highly recommended to me, and I’ve happily passed along my own recommendation to others. The team is knowledgeable and always willing to answer our questions, offering tips and tricks that have been so helpful at home. I can’t thank them enough for the peace of mind they provide. If you’re looking for a fantastic place for your pup, CBS is it!
I am very thankful for CBS. They came into my life when I needed them most. I’ve had my Rottweiler karma since she was 8 weeks old. She is now 2 years and 4 months. When I got her I thought over socializing her and babying her was what I was supposed to do. I let everyone and anyone pet her when they asked, even if karma didn’t seem to care to be pet. I would treat her like she was my baby instead of a “power” breed. I hired her first trainer for obedience and we used a lot of negative reinforcement which eventually turned her reactive and insecure. I had a mess and it was a big one. That’s when Brian and his team stepped in. I signed her up for a 45 day program at his facility. He was very honest about this not being an overnight fix. I even chose to extend the program because she had came into heat while there. They accommodated that situation as well. Brian and his team kept me updated weekly with pictures and videos. They answered all emails and kept me in the loop. Karma has only been home for a week, but just walking her in my apartment has been much easier. She no longer barks and lunges with the tools CBS has given me. I will be sending Karma back for her sleepover session in a couple weeks for a follow up.Lastly, karma struggles heavy with the vet. I cannot find anyone who feels confident enough to take her on as a patient. The vet I did have she was labeled as a danger and needed to wear a muzzle. I haven’t been able to get her spayed because they were unsure how they would monitor her after she woke up. Brian once again stepped in and found me a vet to take her. Taking it a step further he offered to be the one to take her to her appointments to show her the vet is not a bad experience. This is not Brian’s problem, but he is dedicated to his craft that he made it his.Karma will be with the facility as long as she lives. I plan to send her here whenever I need a break, have a trip planned, or karma just needs some socialization. I’m so glad I found this place. Thank you guys so much !
