Very enjoyaba trail with a nice overlook attached to it. Easily accessible from the visitor’s center – be sure to pick up a self-guided tour brochure (1 per family) for the trail! We saw LOTS of beautiful spiders from the trail. It started to get pretty hot and humid as we were finishing up around 11:30 am. Getting there right at 9am was a perfect time.
We have a 3 month old baby – I had no problems baby wearing on this trail. As it got busier, we saw many families with young children and/or dogs.
They ask bug spray be applied in the parking lot to be cognizant of the fireflies.
Apply bug spray in the parking lot. The mosquitos weren’t bad but the horse flies were annoying. Fairly flat trail, took me about an hour. I saw a few lizards, birds, a snake, turtles and dragonflies from the boardwalk
This is a beautiful and easy boardwalk trail I stopped to do with my dogs while driving through South Carolina. It’s a great option if you don’t have a lot of time and want to see a bit of what the park offers. Congaree offers a way different landscape than most other parks along the east coast, so it’s worth it just to see something different. The boardwalk was clean and there was an area that overlooks Weston Lake which had some seating available. Be mindful of bugs and humidity depending on when you go.
Very easy trail. Flat and easy to follow, there are 20 stops where you can learn about the park through a free brochure supplied at the visitor center. The Boardwalk Trail is very beautiful, and it connects to all sorts of other trails and different points, such as the Firefly Trail, Sims Trail, and Weston Loop Trail. You can follow some of these trails to the Wise Lake, and the Boardwalk Trail has a scenic viewpoint of the Weston Lake.
