If you’re searching for beautiful pet-friendly trails in northern Michigan, Empire Bluff Scenic Lookout is a must-visit destination. Located near Honor, MI, this spot offers a moderately challenging 1.5-mile roundtrip hike through shaded woods and up to breathtaking views of Lake Michigan. The well-maintained trail is mainly shaded, providing a scenic and comfortable walk for you and your leashed dog.
While Empire Bluff is not a traditional off-leash dog park, it is a dog-friendly hiking area perfect for active pups and their owners. It features hard-packed trails with a partial boardwalk, making it accessible for most hikers (though not wheelchair friendly). There are restrooms at the trailhead and convenient parking, making it easy to start your adventure. Don’t miss out on one of the most stunning dog-friendly hiking spots in the Honor area!
Beautiful location with just a shot hike needed. 1.5 miles round trip, you can walk further up if you want but I feel you get the best views from the stopping point.
It’s a beautiful place. A bit of a walk going up the bluff to get to the top. Probably a little more than a mile. Beautiful scenery. Met a young couple up there they had just got engaged and ask if I would take there picture
Absolutely lovely views! Nice bit through the woods and then a little boardwalk to the Lake. There is a downed tree at the end. Some people said it had really nice views past the end. The trail gets less wide, and my sister and I chickened out and turned around. Definitely don’t want to miss this one if you’re in the area!
Easy to get to the parking area. The hike in is 3/4 of a mile. The trail is hard packed with some hills and is well maintained. It’s mostly shaded until you get to the main viewing area. The wooden walk path near the viewing area can be slippery due to the dry sand on it. Well worth the hike in.
The views from this spot are great. However, there is a moderately difficult hike of 1.5 miles round trip which takes about an hour walk. No drinking water facility. The condition of the restroom is very very BAD. Too much bad smells and hundreds of flies, urine all over the floor. And I didn’t understand why this place needed a ticket for NULL.
