🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
ONC Dog Park, located within joint base Hickam at 501 Ohana Nui Cir, is a welcoming spot for dog owners with military base access in Honolulu, Hawaii. The park features separate fenced areas for small (<30 lbs) and large dogs, both equipped with agility equipment like jumps and platforms, providing enrichment and exercise for energetic pups. The park's compact, backyard-sized layout is perfect for letting your dog run, play, and socialize in a secure environment. Spacious shade from big trees and several benches make it a comfortable spot for pet owners, though some reviewers note there is limited shade depending on the time of day.
The park is well-maintained, usually stocked with poop bags and waste stations for convenient clean-up, and is regularly visited by friendly dogs and owners. However, water fountain functionality can be sporadic, so it’s a good idea to bring your own water. A paved, dog-friendly trail runs nearby along the waterfront, great for leashed walks and beautiful views. Note that base access is required, and the dog park can get a bit tricky to find due to the unique layout of Hickam AFB. Despite its size, ONC Dog Park stands out for its cleanliness, agility gear, and supportive pet-loving community, making it a top choice for those seeking dog parks in Honolulu.

Awesome little dog park for those with base access.
The park is decent sized for medium/large dogs. The small dog park next to it is similar in space. I like that this park has a big tree providing plenty of shade during the middle of the afternoon. I’ll have to update my review during the summer months to see if the coverage persists. The water tap on the small dog run was operable but not the big dog run.
There were no owners mid-afternoon when we went offering a great chance to train without too many distractions.
Only downside to this park is location. Hickam is full of one-way streets and getting to the park is a bit out of the way for anyone other than those living on the Hickam side of base.
Honestly surprised! Had no idea this little gem was in the neighborhood. No running water so be sure to bring your own for your pups, but otherwise fairly well-maintained and convenient! Highly recommend
