Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Located on Ford Island at 1275 Saratoga Blvd, Ford Island Dog Park is one of Honolulu, Hawaii’s top dog-friendly destinations. This spacious, well-maintained park offers dedicated areas for both large and small dogs to run and socialize. The park is known among local pet owners for its welcoming community, scenic views, and nearby pet-friendly walking trails along the water, making it a perfect spot for both pups and their families.
While fresh water is available via a spigot and hose, the main water fountains are currently non-operational. Benches are provided in both the large and small dog areas, offering a bit of comfort, with the main shade found in the small dog section. Pet waste disposal is encouraged (bring your own bags if possible), and there is at least one trash bin available. For the best experience, visit in the late afternoon or enjoy a peaceful morning walk by the water. Ford Island Dog Park is a go-to off-leash spot for dogs and owners seeking a friendly, open, and active pet community in Honolulu.
This is one of my favorite dog parks to go to. Fresh water is accessible (hose) at all times to refill the jugs or water bowls for your pet. Nearby, there is a sidewalk to use to take a nice long journey by the water with the pets, children on bikes, and strollers.

While the main water fountains don’t work, there is a spigot on the right corner of the entrance to refill bowls/ jugs. Best not to come when it’s over 80’F. There isn’t a lot of shade. The only shaded bench is in the small dog area (35lb or under). Small pen doesn’t get much use so if you come in the morning when no one is likely there you can get a shady spot. Best time to come around 5pm during peak time if your dog is well socialized. Good people. Even better doggos. If you have any grocery bags, bring ‘em and tie them to the fence. Anything helps.
