Have only been here once, but plan to come back. Membership required through village. A little wet and muddy today, but that is to be expected with the weather. The facility is well designed and nicely maintained. Met a few other dogs and owners and everyone was friendly.

AVOID!
PRIVATE MEMBERSHIP ONLY and infested with fleas/mosquitoes!!
I brought my dog on vacation with me to the Chicago area from San Francisco, California. I have discovered that regardless of all the open land in the suburban areas of Chicago, most places are not dog friendly— unless they are made out of porcelain (Flossmore). I searched for a dog park that wasn’t too far away and did find one in Homewood. From their website, it looked like a lovely place. Unfortunately, The Rover’s Run dog park is private; the website does not mention anything about it being private or being members only.
I don’t think this state is friendly or accepting for people with dogs, I think it’s focus is for ripping off property owners and other people with money.
The Homewood Dog Park Members also really need to invest in some pest control. I am standing and writing this in the area directly outside of the locked gated dog run; it is infested with mosquitoes and fleas.
I’m actually kind of happy I took the time to write this and discovered it before I went inside and infested both myself & my dog.

Beautiful park, a lot of green areas, the fields are well taken care of. There is a lot of space for kids to enjoy themselves. I am currently in a softball league here. Only downside is that in the weekends the bathrooms are not open, and you have to use 1 portable bathroom.

Traveler beware: this is not a public dog park. We pulled off after finding this dog park on Google, to give our two dogs a chance to stretch their legs and get a break from the car only to find a code protected entrance with no alternative. I walked my boys around in the field nearby, but was thoroughly disappointed that they couldn’t truly run or play. On 12 hour drives, it’s always vital to look for sanctuary and safe places to take the dogs: this is not one of them.
